Branch vs Branch upcycling for WEHD competition WINNER!
WE HAVE A WINNER!
The NZIEH Branch vs Branch upcycling competition for World Environmental Health Day competition closed on Friday 17th September. Thank you to everyone who entered. Entries were collated for blind judging (without names or branches) to Karen Perry from Safe Food Services, NZIEH Bronze Partner.
Karen's comments were as follows: "I loved all the ideas and have found it extremely difficult to separate out a winner. All examples of upcycling offer ongoing use and are hugely creative in their outcomes.
However, there has to be a winner. So my vote lands on the laundry drying rack entry number 12. This excellent example of upcycling is not only stylish and functional, but also space efficient as well!"
The winning entry was submitted from NZIEH member Lisa Millican from Whakatane District Council, this means our winning branch is......
WAIKATO/BAY OF PLENTY

Lisa's winning upcycling entry - 'drying rack'
"Side of wooden baby pen, bit chewed (so done some time as puppy pen in the past) found dumped on road side. Scrub, scrub, scrub. Clean. Sand. Paint. Some cord, curtain wheels and bits. Now a well used laundry drying rack that can be raised and lowered if feeling short".
