About the role 

We are looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join our close-knit team. Ideally, you will have experience working with food safety and verifications, with businesses operating under a health licence and managing environmental health requests and complaints.  


To be successful in this position, you will have a positive can-do attitude. You will be confident working with a range of people and be quick to build relationships, both within your team and wider Kāpiti Coast District Council, and externally in the community.   


 Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • - Experience in working as an Environmental Health Officer, including verifying template food control plans. 

  • - Demonstrated ability to perform tasks of a physical nature to ensure safe performance of duties such as outdoor inspections on various sites. 

  • - Demonstrated effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 

  • - Effective communication skills, both oral and written. 

  • - A degree/diploma in Environmental Health Science or an equivalent relevant tertiary qualification in accordance with the Environmental Health Officers Qualifications Regulations 1993.  

A valid New Zealand Drivers’ Licence is essential for this role.
