He angitūtanga: The opportunity
This is a key role within our Licensing and Regulatory Compliance department where you will be vital
to ensuring and improving public health and safety by monitoring compliance of food businesses,
licensing of businesses in health and hygiene activities with the relevant legislation.
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will undertake the registration, verification, and inspection
of food businesses, licensing of all hairdressers and health and hygiene activities as well as support
Council initiatives to maintain, protect, and improve the health, safety, and wellbeing of the public.
He kōrero mōu: About you
Your background will demonstrate previous experience in Environmental Health, ideally in a role
where you have gained experience in Inspections and verifications of food businesses and operators,
and health and hygiene premises.
You will possess suitable qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent as recognised under
the Environmental Health Officers Qualifications Regulations 1993. You may also be an accredited or
approved verifier as authorised by an ISO accredited organisation or approved by the Ministry for
Primary Industries.
Understanding and experience in an IANZ accredited organisation or other quality management
system will be key here. A current and relevant NZ Driver’s licence is required due to the nature of
the role and the class of vehicle driven.
