Senior Environmental Health Officer and Food Control Plan Verifier

Food and Health Standards (2006) Ltd is a very well established service provider to Territorial Authorities in NZ. It currently provides a suite of comprehensive Environmental Health and Food Verification services under contract to 14 Territorial Authorities across NZ. These services cover the registration and inspection of health licensed premises and activities, monitoring of recreational waters, investigations of notifiable food and water-borne infectious diseases, input into emergency responses and general health. It also provides allied services such as Resource Management monitoring and enforcement (land uses and noise control), Alcohol Licensing and Inspection, Drinking Water Supplies assessments and follow up to transgressions, and the registration and verification of Food Control Plans.


Food and Health Standards is also aligned with its sister company, Auditing Solutions NZ Ltd. This company is accredited by JAS-ANZ and registered by MPI as a Recognised Agency to undertake the evaluation and verification of template and Custom Food Control Plans and verification of National Programmes, template Food Control Plans, My Food Plans and Custom Food Control Plans pursuant to the Food Act 2014.

Food and Health Standards has two Directors and currently employs 32 staff. The company is based in Christchurch but trades nationally, with staff based in wider Auckland, Canterbury, South Canterbury and Dunedin. This position is Christchurch based and operates out of the company's head office at 110 Mandeville Street, Riccarton. Travel to undertake verifications in other parts of NZ would be necessary but intermittent and would only be for two to three nights at a time.


All management and staff operate as a team in a good workplace environment with high staff morale and are very supportive.



Job tasks and responsibilities:



The core duties are:


Team Leader, Canterbury region.

Closely aligned with the Managing Director and Senior Operations and Quality Coordinator.

Overseeing the performance and providing support to the Environmental Health Officers and TA Food Verifiers.

Senior Environmental Health Officer role covering all of the wide variety functions involved in this position.

Verifier of Food Control Plans and National Programmes.


Skills and experience:



We are seeking a person whom is a qualified and experienced Environmental Health Officer and Food Act Verifier. This Team Leader role includes the TA responsibilities under the Food Act 2014.


We expect that in-house training and mentoring will be necessary to achieve the competencies necessary for the person to undertake the multi-skilled role.
